💪 AREA SÜD – On the way to becoming the second largest economic region in the south of Austria
On October 19, the Wirtschaftsbund Stadtgruppe Deutschlandsberg and the Bauernbund Deutschlandsberg invited to a special event in Gamsbad, which was dedicated to the Koralm Railway and the resulting economic area of Southern Austria. About 100 entrepreneurs and business people accepted this invitation to explore the potential of this region and its inhabitants.
City group chairman KommR akad. Vkfm. Gunther Riedlsperger led through the evening. BGO KommR Manfred Kainz explained the importance of the station Weststeiermark for the region. Particularly exciting was the presentation of the study by Johanneum Research and the WKO on the concrete effects of the Koralm Railway, presented by von Dr. Ewald Verhounig, Head of the Institute for Economic and Location Development, WKO Styria. Franz Ahm, District Office Chairman of the WKO District Office Klagenfurt, illuminated the situation in the catchment area of Carinthia. The conclusion from the presentations was clear – the rail link on both sides of the Koralm opens up opportunities and possibilities.
Inspiring insights into the future of the economic region were provided. In this context and with a view to the constantly growing demands on technical solutions and business developments, it is crucial to maintain strong partnerships.

I was just as pleased to make new contacts from the region as I was to exchange ideas with long-time acquaintances. I was particularly pleased to meet Mrs. Margaretha Deix, with whom I had the pleasure of taking my entrepreneurial exam almost 20 years ago. I was also pleased to meet Mr. Gunther Riedlsperger, whom I already know from my time with the fire department youth.
Such meetings, in addition to the presentations, provide an opportunity to deepen valuable business relationships, expand our professional network, and at the same time lay the foundation for future business partnerships and success.
Many thanks to the organizers for this inspiring evening!
Kind regards
